Lapa Construction

The traditional Lapa is a unique and beautiful structure which will be built by our dedicated team on-site at your location.

GreenScape Elegance remains the only UK provider of these timber framed buildings, and this reflects our years of experience and expertise. Each Lapa is crowned with a fully thatched roof and this centuries old technique provides a watertight structure using sustainable water reed. Our highly skilled teams can also carry out any landscaping, decking and building works required for your personal design during the course of your Lapa construction.

Project Management

Each project is managed by an experienced team from our Kent workshops. As each Lapa is unique we visit your environment for a site survey and to discuss your requirements in the early stages of your enquiry. We can then prepare specific Lapa building plans for your project as Lapas can be constructed in any shape or size with numerous design features.

Timber

To ensure the strength of these structures, Lapa construction is completed with a 100% timber frame. This natural product looks fantastic and accurately recreates structures found in South Africa. For added authenticity we use sustainably grown Natural Hardwood Poles, their rustic finish is what makes the Lapa feel so special. All of our timber is treated with Tanalith E wood preservative to provide long lasting protection against the elements.

Construction

At the heart of every Lapa is an extremely strong timber frame. Due to the design of this frame a Lapa does not require sections of railing to provide strength and this increases the access options and potential uses of the building. During a Lapa construction, the frame is constructed first and provides the supporting base to the thatched roof. Once the main build is completed we would then complete any additional landscaping requested.

Thatched Roof

It is our belief that the only way to create a visually stunning structure is to use a genuine hand-thatched roof. The creation of a thatched roof is an art form in itself and as thatching progresses the structure really comes alive. We use sustainably grown water reed and complete each thatch with a beautiful ridge. A thatched roof is completely water tight and offers year round protection from the elements.

Warranty

GreenScape Elegance offer premium craftsmanship using high quality materials, and will guarantee the timber frame for 10 years against wood decay and the thatched roof for 10 years against leakage. Further details can be found in our Warranty.
